McLean County Source Contacts

This is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, verify a release, post bond, or pull an official booking record. The McLean County Sheriff’s Office, the Detention Facility, the arresting police department, the Circuit Clerk, IDOC, BOP, or ICE must answer questions about records held in their own systems.

Where McLean County Records Are Held

For county custody, booking, and detention questions, use the McLean County Sheriff’s Office and the McLean County Detention Facility. The Sheriff’s current directory routes Records Division questions through the main number. The county’s published section contacts also distinguish records work from Corrections operations.

Main: (309) 888-5034
Records Section: (309) 888-5055

The Corrections and detention line is the route identified for detention questions and bond information, and detention operations are not limited to the public-office hours above. The Process Unit is listed at (309) 888-5040. A contact number is a routing point, not proof that a record, photo, release, or warrant can be disclosed by phone.

For a booking record or photo, use the McLean County Transparency and FOIA page. Requests can be sent through the county’s online portal, by email to foiarequest@mcleancountyil.gov, or by mail or drop-off to the Chief County FOIA Officer, 115 E Washington Street, Room 401, P.O. Box 2400, Bloomington, IL 61701. The sample county FOIA form asks for the department, a description, delivery method, and contact details.

Keep a request narrow. Give the person’s full legal name, an approximate arrest or booking date, the arresting agency when known, and a report or case number if available. Ask for non-exempt booking or intake records, any booking photograph maintained by the Sheriff, and public release, discharge, or transfer information. Request electronic delivery and ask the custodian to identify the legal basis for any withheld field. The county publishes fees, including the first 50 paper pages free, then $0.15 per page, a $1 certification charge, and variable media or voluminous electronic charges. No county-specific booking-photo fee or guaranteed response date was published.

For the broad countywide lookup, use the booking and records page. Warrant questions belong with the official court or Sheriff route described on the Most Wanted Fugitives page, not with this private service.
